Biographical Notes:

Over the course of his 40 years as a judge, George has served in every division of the County and Circuit Courts for the Second Judicial Circuit.

George graduated from Tallahassee's Leon High School in 1967. He received his college education at Furman University and Florida State University. He graduated from the Florida State University College of Law in 1974. He worked for the Florida Legislature (1974- 1978) and subsequently managed a general law practice (1978 -1984). Then, in 1984, he was elected as a Leon County Judge and in 1988 he was elected without opposition to the office of Circuit Judge. He served as a Circuit Judge from 1989-2016 and was the Chief Judge from 1999-2001. George served as a Senior Judge from 2016-2024.

George participated in numerous Judicial Branch Educational activities, was the Chair of the Florida Bar Family Law Rules Committee in 1998, and in 2016 he was named the Historian Emeritus of the Second Judicial Circuit for his work on the history of the Circuit.  

George believes mediation is the one of the finest contributions to American law in recent history and often refers to it as "the peace conference before the battlefield."

Community Involvement:

George helped in a community clean-up of Greenwood Cemetery in 1988 and served on the Board of Directors of the John G. Riley House, Museum of African American History and Culture from 1995-2012. George has devoted a great deal of time teaching Judges, Lawyers, and College and High School Students about the law.  He firmly believes in educating citizens regarding how the law works as well as continuing education for those who have the responsibilities of administering our laws.

Personal Notes:

George is married to Ruth Clevenger Reynolds; they have three children and three grandchildren, as well as two dogs, Cleopatra and Muffin. The Reynolds are members of Faith Presbyterian Church.
